Expressing grief over Dr. James’s death, his former colleague and good friend, Carter Rogers, shared a Facebook post. He wrote, “So hard to believe he is not with us anymore. He will be missed by his many patients and the people of Newton County. He and Pam were kind enough to let me sleep on their couch for a few days in August of 1986 when I moved to Augusta to start medical school and had no power in my house. Only 103 for the high that day. Jim was in his last year of medical school. He went to Emory for residency and I stayed in Augusta for ten more years of training. We both practiced at Newton General, then Newton Medical center then Piedmont Newton. His office was on the floor above mine. I will miss popping in to say hi or discuss a mutual patient. He was, as they say in Athens, a damn good dawg.”
Another person, Michael Grady, wrote, “Yea. He was a treasure. Such a good doc, gentlemen, and generous smile. So so sad.”
