Hiten Patel was the founder and president of Thornhill-Carrville Hockey School and York Region Golden Knights Youth Hockey Association. He was 53 years of his age. Beyond that, it seemed like Hiten was everywhere; you could find him volunteering as a crossing guard at a school or cycling around town in vibrant clothing. He devoted countless hours to the health and well-being of the local youth, and his vision for his beloved city was similarly bold; despite being told it was impossible, Hiten had plans to run as mayor for Vaughan one day.

It is sad to announce the death of Hiten Patel, who lived to his commitment to the community. He sadly passed away on 27th February his son, Milan has written a note shared by Carlo Gon on his facebook page:
“My name is Milan, son of Hiten Patel. It is with great sorrow that I announce my father’s passing last week at the age of 53. He is survived by his mother, brother, wife, and 3 sons.”
he added,
We understand that not only our family, but the entire community, will grieve his passing. We appreciate the respect and privacy from the community at this time. I love you forever Dad.”
The real cause of his death is not disclosed, we respect the privacy of his family and we believe they will share it soon.
